3 bad habits that may trigger rosacea flare ups

People who suffer from rosacea need to take special care to be gentle with their skin. Here are three common habits you should quit to prevent flushing.

1. Over-loading your skin
Using too many heavy products can be bad for skin sensitive to rosacea. Avoid known irritants like witch hazel, lanolin, alcohol, tea tree oil and sodium lauryl sulphate. Rather try using products that are specially created for sensitive skin. These are less likely to cause a flare-up.

2. Using hot water
Hot water on your skin can worsen the effects of rosacea. Instead try using lukewarm water to wash your face and pat dry to avoid aggravation.

3. Not using sunscreen
Did you know that sunlight is the most common trigger of rosacea? Whatever the weather is like outside, whether it’s sunny, cold or windy, be sure to apply sunscreen with an SPF factor of at least 30 before leaving home.
